Maureen Donnelly studied painting, sculpture, and ceramics at Tulane University. Her background includes over thirty years of professional work as a foundry technician, jeweler, museum curator, gallery director, auction house specialist, and accredited fine art appraiser. She has lived in Jackson, Mississippi since 2005.
Her oils on canvas reflect an abiding love of nature, and her interest in texture and color. Rather than brushes, Maureen uses palette knives to apply thick, bold strokes of brightly-hued pigment across the surfaces. Guided by her imagination and instinctive responses to the medium, she creates painterly abstract images that evoke various aspects of the natural world.
Maureen’s art has been shown in exhibitions in the southeast, and is included in both private and corporate collections in Mississippi and Louisiana.
