Steve Adair
About the Artist
Steve Adair has a strong interest in researching source imagery for his paintings. He creates figure paintings that are inspired by images from 1950's culture, which he often renders in a style that conveys a sense of decay and deterioration. By presenting his subjects as tarnished relics with paint splatters, blurred paint, and other techniques, Adair invites the viewer to approach the works as they would a wall covered in graffiti or an old, weathered billboard. The layers of different paint and texture within the artwork create a sense of history and depth, encouraging the viewer to engage with the piece on a more profound level.
Steve Adair is a Rogers, Arkansas-based visual artist with a BFA in Painting and Art Education from Arkansas State University. His work has been exhibited widely across the US, including shows at Jan Brandt Gallery, Box 13 Art Space, The Fayetteville Underground, Matre Gallery, and 505 Union. Adair's pieces can be found in galleries and personal collections throughout the country.
